This Is All Happening On Its Own

This Is All Happening On Its Own

Even when things are going well and we’re relatively happy, we spend most of our time looking forward to the future or thinking about the past—even when our minds seem to have arrived in the general vicinity of the present moment.

Perhaps we’re having a dinner with friends that we’ve been looking forward to all day...

Even in very subtle ways, our attention still gets continually captured by what happened a moment ago or…

it inclines toward what is about to happen next.

It’s truly rare that the present moment becomes so captivating that our mind naturally rests there and experiences it fully.

But all of this changes once we learn to meditate.

And in meditation, notice that past thoughts have ceased and future thoughts have not yet arisen.

And in this moment, there’s just consciousness gazing into itself.

And whatever appears, including this next thought, it does so entirely on its own.

There’s absolutely nothing to grab, ask, or to prevent, or even to improve here.

Everything is simply happening all by itself.

For just this moment….

Can you let everything be exactly as it is?
