Do you know yourself?

Do you know yourself?
I know, it seems like a stupid thing to ask.
I don’t mean it in the what-size-are-my-pants and what-is-my-favorite-food sort of way. I mean the real way. The do-you-know-what-you-want-to-do-with-your-life sort of way.
Have you ever sat down and just asked yourself this simple question:
Why do you do what you do each day?
One of the reasons it is so easy to motor on day after day doing something we aren’t meant to do is because we often refuse to ask ourselves the hard questions.
We don’t change things. We don’t figure out what we really want. We don’t question what we are doing. Just drive on. Grind it out. Work. Sleep. Autopilot.
Prepare for something better by asking yourself why.
Why do you do what you do each day?
Why do you care about A? Why do you not care about B?
Why do you enjoy spending time on [blank]?
Why do you feel afraid of X?
Why does Y make you smile?
Get to know yourself. Get to know your motivations, your interests, your fears.
Sit down and actually think about the real you. Develop an understanding of who you are and what you enjoy.
If you know these things, then you will have a much better idea of where you want to go – and the entire world will help you if you know where you want to go.
Ask yourself why.
